Our History

New York City Management is a leading property management firm for multifamily, mixed use, retail, commercial properties, and co-ops/condos, in the tri-state market.

Founded in 1998, NYCM manages a portfolio of approximately 2 million square feet across 200 buildings.

NYCM is led and owned by Michael Besen, a seasoned real estate professional with over 30 years of experience in local real estate, specializing in property management and investment brokerage. The firm has extensive relationships with landlords, suppliers, consultants, contractors, city agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

With approximately $500 million in property assets under management, NYCM has the operational property management expertise and proven track record for maximizing rental income while leveraging economies of scale and buying power.

Through our affiliated strategic alliances (accounting services, residential and retail leasing, investment realty brokerage) we have an integrated platform to efficiently and cost-effectively deliver a broad range of real estate services, enabling maximum value for investments under management.

NYCM is an approved property manager by Housing Preservation Development (HPD) in NYC. In 2018, the Attorney General’s office of NY approved NYCM to asset manage a Manhattan portfolio of 107 mid-rise rent-regulated apartment buildings with over 1,500 fair market, rent-regulated and commercial units.
